Retichat.com and RFed and beyond

Hey folks, I've added the RFed Channel functionality to retichat.com LXMF client
It's much easier to demonstrate the progress on RFed using a web browser chat page. For those who don't know, RFed is my extension to LXMF Propagation. Instead of only propagating LXMF messages addressed to offline devices, RFed provides a global namespace of Channels that clients subscribe to. RFed propagates to the client whatever is posted to the Channel. And like LXMF Propagation, the content is served by the full network of RFed nodes. No one can control or shut down a channel in the same way that Reticulum itself cannot be shut down.
The protocol is designed for broad application. Not tied to chat apps specifically. It's easy enough to add on application specific controls and security. The key feature that didn't exist before is subscriber based distribution without having a centralized server
There are a few other features of RFed that fit well within the paradigm. But it occurred to me recently that the RFed network would also be a great way to solve the "many devices = many addresses" problem. I call it RFed Distro (it will work slightly different from Channels). So I'll keep posted with progress on that
That's cool. I have plans to add RFed support into reticulum-js (just like we have LXMF). There are some interesting use cases for that sort of broadcast in NoFlo
