I don't have any users on my RNodes other than myself at the moment so I have been changing the settings as I experiment. I can to the conclusion that if I wanted adoption that range would trump throughput initially so have landed on the current BW 250 SF11 CR 5 settings for now.

There are 2 RNodes on 434.500 MHz that use BW 250 SF 8 and have decent range. We also run some APRS iGates on 433.775 MHz in the area.

I'm trying to get the members of my Amateur Radio Club interested in Reticulum with little success.

@Dio - I agree, BW250 SF11 CR5 is a sweet spot at the moment for wide areas; BW250 SF9 is fast enough to carry voice which I've had running in my area

A few new Heltec v4.3 arrived yesterday and the 1.0.50 RTNodes seem to now work very well, although they are lacking observability. The most recent microreticulum is quite observable but has some stability issues on the RAK 3401/13302, due to small flash size. I am waiting on flash expansion modules to arrive.

So I am building two RTNodes with the latest firmware which supports both for announce forwarding and path query forwarding, on single LoRa interfaces. Hope to have them up during the week. These will be on 250/11/5

I did some testing on the range of the RAK 1W to/from a Heltec v4 mobile and managed to get via Abbotsbury ridge from just East of WSI on the M12 at Badgerys Creek. This was just announces and short LXMF. However short, this was my best effort so far to get back to home using standalone repeaters.

The home repeater is microreticulum in transport mode on a Heltec v4.3 with a WiFi UDP interface for the other nodes in the house. It gets me up to the ridge to the RAK 1Wand out to the east and south/east of home.

So I have two nodes in transport mode at home and thinking of just dropping it back to the repeater in transport mode, as I only have few other nodes here and am not connected to Internet backbone. Not sure if that is the right thing to do?

Yeah I reckon just run whatever ends up working best for you. Half the fun is trying different setups and seeing what actually works in the real world anyway. Getting back home via Abbotsbury ridge from out near Badgerys Creek is a pretty bloody good result too. I dropped the MeshCore/Meshtastic stuff a while back because I got a bit sick of other people trying to tell me how I should be running my own gear. Much happier just experimenting with RNS and doing my own thing. Definitely happy to work with you on getting a LoRa link between us going though. It's not really the main thing I'm working on at the moment, but if we can get a useful RF path between us I'm all for it. Interested to see how those new nodes go on 250/11/5 too.

Figured i'd put it out there that I'm going setup some rnodes in Broken Hill & Bathurst within the next month. Currently none to my knowledge in either town.

Hi OzCleric, I'm up here on the Brisbane bay-side and just set up my first public LoRa rnode. I've linked in to your well connected gateway and thank you for going to all the trouble. As far as I can see, I'm the first up here in Queensland, but hopefully that will change. I'm new to LoRa, so it's only a very small scale operation, but I'll work on that. Anyway, just wanted to say Hi.
