Hm, SPORE sounds suspiciously familiar. From the How it works page it sounds like a vibecoded Reticulum knock-off. I admit I didn't look too closely at the details, as I have better things to do than read endless pages of Claude generated text. Anybody else had a look at this?

It seems full of features, but nothing works! It's like an empty shell.

Did you test it yet? I was looking at the repo a bit. Claude code is the largest contributor by far.

ATTENTION ALL VIBECODERS!

ACHTUNG!

PAS OP!

ATTENZIONE!

This wonderful project, SPORE, is looking for new 🦀 BLAZING 🦀 FAST post-quantum Rust ports.

Reticulum is OVER. It's gone the way of the dodo.

Spore is where it's at. Please direct all of your efforts and Claude tokens over there.

Thank you for your attention to to this matter

Haven't tested it, but I took a closer look, and it seems to take some ideas from LXMF and Reticulum and reduce it to a generic message routing protocol that piggybacks on other protocols, including Reticulum. At least it has good taste.

Saw the post from the author on the reticulum sub-Reddit before it was locked and deleted where the author completely crashed out after some guy called him out on the AI code. He thinks he's encrypted Jesus. No thanks.

Ah, I see. I clicked on this post initially because I was hoping someone recreated the game spore over rns, lol. Maybe some other time.

Just another embrace, extend, and extinguish campaign. We've seen a few of these lately.

Hi, "author" of spore here.

Yes spore is coded by an ai but there is more to it than that, let me give you some context.

I am a 38 year old software developer. I have many public domain projects in the infrastructure/vj'ing/art categories. Only the ladt year or so have been using ai since i had a severe stress induced brain damage severely capping my abstraction level preventing me from coding long sessions.

Anyway for reference my stuff is here: supernihil.github.io github.com/sloev

A long interest of mine is mesh networks, i have created open infrastructure for heating with builtin mesh networks delivering democratic heating to hundreds of people and have told that story on the stage of ccc.

I am very much interested in flat democracy and adhoc structures.

I dont like bullies, and am very much seeing the irony of my recent reddit flaming dumpster spree. That behavior of mine has to stop. I am frustrated with feeling of being permanent outsider, but that is not a freecard to.misbehave.

With that context lets look at spore.
Spore is rightly said a vibe coded project. But importantly its alpha warez and i opened it to the world as copyleft public domain.

Why spore: because all mesh protocols i have evaluated through the years are hard to explain to laymans terms. And i live in a place with a lot of not so techy activists that wanna know how shit works. So i thought if the core idea is a signed envelope with the message being readable by the intended receiver only. Then it would be easy to explain.

Then came ideas of filesharing: how about using fountain codes as a kind of torrent replacement.

Then came ideas about portability: what if the same rust core is used everywhere from esp32 to desktop or web?

Then came the idea of a layered router: the router is responsible for choosing which transports to transmit info to and how to store and forward etc but the transports themselves are responsible for their inner mechanics, a transport is seen as a link by the core router.

Then came ideas about having a spec for the kernel that could be printed with a decent level of detail on a single double sided piece of paper.

Then came ideas of reproducability in an offline world.

So from my point of view it has been a very organic project albeit using claude and other ais to do the coding but with me constantly reading through the codebase and doing the development in public for full disclosure.

It really is pretty heartfelt from me. Its ok for you to hate vibe coded stuff but now you got the handwritten context from my android phone. (So sorry about typos)

So:
I am not gonna flame shit on reddit, its a mirror of my outsider sadness anyway.

I am continuing to develop spore as i think its important with something that is compact and completely decoupled from networks.

Other than that, feel free to expand your understanding of why vibe code to cover people that otherwise cant contribute via coding.

Anyway, thats me. Pretty friendly irl as everybody is. Spend my hole life building communities but still feeling as an outsider looking in.

Have a great day

Are you sure you read code? I looked at your GitHub and spore Android version:
spore-v0.7.0.apk sha256:6fef7443a2f4daf186cdc5a2e69ea10c190902f504351128e4f932cf8c2624db
And another Android version!: spore-android.apk sha256:6fef7443a2f4daf186cdc5a2e69ea10c190902f504351128e4f932cf8c2624db
And your web app's capabilities were more than the Android version's capabilities.
I don't know and maybe I'll be judged, but I don't think you even looked at the app much.

I am re evaluating the kernel, android is not my focus. Constant iteration until stability.

Btw, i didnt post op on this forum.
Just try to expand the landscape a bit.

I am continuing exploring, i like my solution on the spec side. And prns seems to be having most of the same choices except fragmentation and fountain codes etc

OP here, away from my computer. Sorry, I shouldn’t have been so critical, my Claude allergy was flaring up. There are some good ideas in there, and I’m all for exploration of ideas in this space.

I hadn’t thought of that use case of vibecoding, learned something new. Sorry that stress got the best of you, it got me too.

Thanks for explaining where you come from. Too bad we can’t sit down and talk over a beer (on me), I think we’d get along IRL.
