# Anyone had luck with a seed solar node? _Help · started by Scully on Thu, Sep 24, 2026 3:04 AM_ --- ## Original post **Scully** · Thu, Sep 24, 2026 3:04 AM I have had one of these laying around for months and just recently thought of a good place to put it for a reticulum radio. Thing is, these radios do not have firmware really made for them that works with reticulum. I have scratched my head going through peoples githubs who supposedly had them working and I still fail to flash the firmware. I am reaching out in hopes anyone has tried making use of these. Thank you --- ## Reply 1 **GRNCH** · Thu, Sep 24, 2026 3:48 AM I have installed Rnode on a small Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 & Wio-SX1262 Kit and im using it in a solar node connected to a RPI0W however I need to get some better panels as the 2 devices are sucking through the one 18650 battery overnight after the sun is down. Even with the RPI having its own supplemental battery. --- ## Reply 2 **Scully** · Thu, Sep 24, 2026 6:14 PM I don't believe I explained it very well. I have a seed solar node which is an all in one product sold for meshtastic. However I did in fact find a github page that fixed my problem. I made use of https://github.com/joshbowyer/reticulum-lora-repeater and with the help of some google-fu I got it to work. The chip it uses is the XIAO_nRF52840 and seemingly no one really supports that well through reticulum. But this does set it up as a 'transporter' node I believe. Which is not exactly what I inteded but it does work seemingly well and my heltec has been utilizing it fairly well. So if anyone finds this thread and needs support they can dm me or ask on here. I did it in the dead of the night so I can't exactly remember all of the steps but I did have to compile firmware for my device and that was a headache for some reason.
